Garage Add-On that Flows

These clients had a Spanish courtyard-style home in an older subdivision of Memorial and had long ago converted their garage into extra living space. But when they tried to sell their home, they had trouble because it was the only house in the neighborhood without a garage. That’s where we came in.

Our challenge was to create a large garage addition that would look as though it had always been a part of the house. This would mean matching the unusual roof line that curved up at the edge, and getting an exact color, size and material match for the fired roof tiles. After an exhaustive search, we located tiles that complimented the existing tile roof, a premium, and highly durable concrete roof tile with an inherent color.

When we framed the addition, we were careful to match the slope of the roof to create an unbroken roof line, the proportion and the style of the home that would give no hint that the garage was an addition. A portion of the garage was built into a separate room with shelving for much-needed storage space. The finished product was an addition that seamlessly integrated into the home, greatly enhancing its curb appeal and market value.
