Steps in Achieving a Successful Project

We invite you to seize the opportunity to make a significant improvement in your home's environment! It takes a practiced eye and experienced hand to assess your lifestyle and tastes, coordinate a plan, and then carry the plan through to its completion. At CC Building by Design, we have the knowledge, experience and perspective to plan around your needs and relate them to your budget. We can also work with you to achieve your "new look" all at once, or help you prioritize and plan your project in several stages as your budget allows.

Planning

1. Decide on your budget. Be up front with your builder/designer. The more we know, the better we can add impact - and value - to your home.

2. Make a "Wish List." Make a list of everything you'd like for your space. List all the practical items you need, along with all those things that you've always wanted - after all, it's just a wish list. The list should include the function of the space, the colors and styles you like, and even things you can't stand. This helps us to better understand your expectations of the space. Chances are we may not be able to grant your every wish, but you'd be surprised at some of the innovative design solutions we have been able to create.

3. Evaluate what you already have. With your budget and wish list in hand, we will take a look at your existing furnishings. Let us know what things you consider most important. Sometimes what you need may not be new furnishings, but a fresh take on your existing space.

A rainbow of colors!

4. Selection. We assist you in making the selections of styles, colors, fabrics, furnishings, appliances and/or materials used in your project. We have abundant resources from which to draw. We can bring samples to your home, or let you browse through catalogs. Or, perhaps even go on a shopping trip together. Remember that we can show you items available only "to the trade." Some clients leave such decisions completely up to the designer, but more often these decisions are made by you with your designer's help. Either way, we'll offer you as much or as little guidance as you'd like.

5. Approve a plan and estimate, sign a contract. Using the information we've gathered, CC Building by Design will implement a plan along with an estimate of time and materials needed. If necessary, adjustments can be made. This plan will be your roadmap going forward keeping your goal and budget in mind. Once the plan is understood, the estimate is approved, the contract is signed, and the deposit received:

We will transform your dreams into reality!

Implementation

Communication and coordination are the keys to a successful project!

Your Builder/Designer is like the expert tailor who is trying to alter your suit - while you're wearing it! The coordination of clients', tradesmen and the designer's schedule can be a challenge and may interrupt your daily routine. Share your concerns with your Builder/Designer as they arise. What may be a minor adjustment early on could eliminate possible problems and expenses later.

1. Access, privacy, and security. Discuss concerns regarding access to your property. You may want to provide a key or "lock box" to your premises to facilitate faster completion of your project. We will consult with you about who will be on your premises, and when. If you have any questions or concerns, let us know immediately.

2. Ordering. Once you've signed the contract and we receive your deposit, orders for materials will be placed. Delivery times may vary depending on the scope of the work involved.

Wall covering of all kinds are our specialty

3. Payment and billing. We require a deposit before work commences. Please
remember that we order materials or have items fabricated especially for you, so once work has begun, your order cannot be canceled. If the project is small, the balance will be paid upon completion. For larger projects, we will agree on a payment schedule.

4. Scheduling and installation. Once the materials are available and/or if your items have been fabricated off site, we will schedule installation.

A larger job will take more time and often involves numerous people to coordinate. Builders/Designers know how to schedule all the people needed for your project. The best tradesmen are usually in high demand and have other obligations. Our experience with these tradesmen on other projects gives us the upper hand in knowing when to schedule your job.

We will do our best to schedule accordingly. One craftsman's work may hinge on another's and affect the overall schedule. We will do our best not to disrupt your life while we coordinate time with the various tradesmen's schedules.

5. Time Frame. Advise your Designer regarding specific time frames in which your project must be completed. The numerous variables involved with delivery dates, peoples' schedules and availability of workmen or materials makes it difficult to guarantee an exact date. Nevertheless, we want you to be happy with our services. We will do everything we can to meet your time constraints.

Communicate any and all concerns you have regarding the project to us immediately. Your satisfaction is the most important thing to us. Remember, we're a team! We both have the same goal - to make your dreams a reality.
